King Highway Podiatry takes an approach different from most other Podiatric Physicians. We are most interested in determining the etiology (cause) of our patient´s problem instead of simply treating symptoms. This allows us to try and prevent reoccurrence. Surgery is performed in-office and at Victory Memorial Hospital, but not before all conservative measures are taken to treat our patient´s condition. SPORTS MEDICINEThe athlete plays an important role in our practice. Speaking personally, as a runner, and all around athlete, this type of patient needs special care in ensuring a complete and speedy recovery. There is no person out there who finds such an urgent need to return to sports at a pre-injury level then an athlete. While some injuries heal faster and require less recuperation, others take a little longer. At our office we try to minimize the time one has to rest, but we do this without jeopardizing a complete recovery. PEDIATRICSPediatrics is a very important aspect of our practice and it allows us to treat certain conditions before they get worse. Although there are some deformities that the child might "outgrow" as he/she gets older, many deformities will remain and can cause significant problems such as pain, difficulty walking, falling, etc. Unfortunately, we don´t see as many children at a young age as we would like, and this is a lost opportunity for the child to overcome certain pathological conditions. There is no such thing as "My child is too young to visit the podiatrist." RADIOLOGYA Podiatric office wouldn´t be complete without having an x-ray machine. Any medical condition requiring x-rays are taken at our office after the patient is evaluated. On premises we have an automatic processor which allows us to evaluate the x-rays immediately. SURGERYDr. Warren Goodman and Dr. Wolfgang Jaworsky have been practicing together for nearly 20 years. The office is equipped to perform in-office surgical procedures for the less complicated surgery cases. All other procedures are performed at Victory Memorial Hospital. PHYSICAL THERAPYPhysical Therapy is an adjunct to our treatment of patients. This is important in sports injuries, following surgery and for certain arthritic/bursitic conditions. While we might often bandage or tape an injury, we also have an ultrasound machine and whirlpool which we use when necessary. Any other condition requiring more extensive physical therapy, we refer patients to an outside physical therapist. ORTHOTICSAfter a thorough orthopedic examination, we will determine if orthotics will benefit your specific condition. Not all patients nor all medical conditions require orthotics. There are many different materials and styles available. They fit inside your shoes and help distribute the weight evenly while walking/exercising. We use plaster splints to cast your feet, allowing us to capture the most accurate impression possible. Standing up and stepping into a plaster mold or into a foam box can compromise the orthotic. Nobody is more qualified to evaluate and prescribe orthotics than a Podiatrist. |
